What is Chemical Peeling?
Chemical peeling is a minimally invasive treatment that consists of applying a chemical solution, eliminating the most superficial layers of the skin through a process of peeling and regeneration, giving rise to the growth of a new layer of skin with a younger, healthier appearance.

Procedure
How long do chemical peels last?
After the initial treatment protocol has been completed, we can say that the result is definitive, meaning that your skin will continue in its natural aging process, but from a better level. 1 session every 6 months is recommended to maintain the results.
Number of sessions required
The number of peeling sessions required will depend on the initial condition of the skin, the complaints and the depth of the peeling. The greater the severity of the complaints and the lesser the depth of the peeling, the greater the number of sessions required. Generally, superficial and medium peels require a treatment protocol of 3 to 5 sessions at 30-day intervals for noticeable and satisfactory results.

CHEMICAL PEELING
As long as it is carried out by a doctor with experience in this type of treatment, peeling is a safe treatment. It is essential to assess your skin phototype in order to choose the peel that best suits you. Avoiding sun exposure and using sunscreen is essential to avoid hyperpigmentation of the skin.
As a rule, superficial and medium peels are associated with some stinging during the procedure, but this is only a brief discomfort. Deep peels are usually performed under anesthesia in the operating room, so you won’t feel any discomfort during the treatment.
The results of chemical peels are usually visible after 7 to 10 days, which is the time needed for the skin to regenerate. If you have several sessions, the results will improve gradually and progressively as you undergo more treatments. After 3 to 5 sessions, the results will be more noticeable and satisfactory.
The type of peel that is right for you should be decided by your doctor during your diagnostic consultation. Some factors, such as skin phototype, severity of skin changes and desired results, are extremely important when choosing the type of peeling.
As a rule, the number of sessions is between 3 and 5, but this varies according to the depth of the peeling, the initial condition of your skin and the results you want. At your first doctor’s appointment, you will be presented with a treatment plan that is completely tailored to you.
The price of a peel varies depending on whether it is superficial, medium or deep. On the other hand, a treatment plan is associated with several sessions. While a superficial or medium peel is performed in a doctor’s office, a deep peel is usually performed in an operating room and is associated with other costs. The exact cost of your treatment will be given to you after your first diagnostic consultation.
There is no minimum or ideal age for a chemical peel. The treatment should be done whenever there is an indication – blemishes, enlarged pores, wrinkles, sagging, scars and dull, porous skin.
Peels can be performed at any time of the year. However, because it causes an abrasion and inflammatory reaction in the skin, it is advisable to carry out the treatment during the fall and winter months to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation associated with sun exposure.
Chemical peels are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as patients with infections and open lesions or atopic dermatitis. Specific health conditions should be assessed by our medical team.
Although superficial/medium peels don’t require rest, returning to work the next day is a personal matter, as the skin may be red and peeling. In the case of deep peels, the recovery time is 1 to 2 weeks. Regardless of the type of peel performed, you should avoid sun exposure and use high protection.
