BIOSTIMULATORS

Lisbon, Porto and Cascais

Treatment summary

What are Biostimulators?

Collagen biostimulators are substances that, when injected into the skin, stimulate the body’s collagen production, which translates into a rejuvenating effect, improving sagging, texture and radiance with natural and progressive results.

How do Biostimulators work?

When injected, Collagen Biostimulators provoke an inflammatory reaction in the dermis, causing the fibroblasts (cells responsible for collagen production) to activate and produce new fibers that support the skin, making the skin tighter, hydrated and brighter.

In which areas can Biostimulators be applied?

Collagen biostimulators can be applied to the face and body.

On the face, they are usually used to treat more advanced signs of ageing and sagging, such as sagging cheekbones, deep nasolabial folds, pronounced marionette lines and an ageing neck.

On the body, biostimulators are often used to reshape and improve the appearance of the buttocks. When applied, they stimulate the body’s collagen production, providing visible results in improved skin firmness, texture and radiance, as well as a slight increase in volume and projection of the buttocks. In this way, they are also associated with treatments to combat cellulite.

Although they are often used to enlarge and reshape the buttocks, biostimulators can be applied to the arms, knees, abdomen, among other areas of the body, to achieve a rejuvenating effect and a significant improvement in the firmness, texture and radiance of the skin.

Types of Collagen Biostimulators

The 3 most commonly used types of biostimulants are Calcium Hydroxyapatite, Polylactic Acid and Polycaprolactonebetter known by their trade names: Radiesse, Lanluma and Ellansé respectively.

Depending on the concentration and the number of sessions, they can give some volume in the same way as hyaluronic acid.

Procedure

How long do biostimulators last?

The results of collagen biostimulators are progressive and gradual, as they depend on the body’s natural response to collagen production. Generally, at least 3 treatment sessions are required, at monthly intervals.

The results of biostimulators can last approximately 18 months.
